… About Our Garden: The Lonely Red Tomato

Meet our lonely red tomato. It showed up before the plant was even in the ground and recently turned red, but it stopped growing and is only the size of a golf ball. Rob said it doesn’t feel ripe so we’re leaving it on the vine and will have to see what happens. Meanwhile, we had our first basil harvest. We picked more lettuce, too — but that’s no longer a big deal because we’re getting so much!

June 22 update: RIP lonely red tomato. We checked on it today and half of it had been eaten. Something must have heard me say that we’re OK with losing half of the garden to the critters and birds. I guess I should have been more specific: I meant half of the total harvest, not half of each fruit and vegetable!
